To help break down the steps needed to avoid or reduce waste at events, Nelson City Council’s Rethink Waste programme is offering two free workshops for event organisers. The Waste Minimisation at Events 101 – Free Workshop for event organisers on 18 August and Waste Minimisation at Events 101 – Free Workshop for event organisers on 25 August will include hands-on activities and guidance using the Rethink Waste plans and resources and covering:
• Planning waste out of your event • Working with stallholders • Types of packaging and how they can be processed • Introduction to reusables/washing systems • Messaging and communications • How to set up effective stations on-site • Working out costs to build into your event budget
The free workshops will take place on 18 and 25 August from 9.30am-11.30am, and are open to all event organisers.
